Donald Bowers/GettyShenae Grimes might represent California on TV, but in real life, she's looking for a New York boy.
Shenae Grimes has found herself some summer lovin'. A source tells us the "90210" actress arrived at the opening of the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club at the South Street Seaport with Brendan Fallis, a local deejay. Grimes, who earlier that evening had attended the play "Sleep No More" at the McKittrick Hotel with Fallis, spent the opening "curled up on his lap" while watching the sun set under the Brooklyn Bridge, and "kept wrapping her legs around him all night."
Headed for the Hamptons this weekend? Be on the lookout for a potential John Mayer sighting. A source spotted the unlikely East End vacationer at a slew of Long Island hot spots last weekend. At Talkhouse on Friday, the singer hung out at the bar, buying shots for "locals," while girls "literally lined up to talk to him." But alas, Mayer paid little attention to the bevy of beauties and instead stuck by his guy friend's side. On Saturday, we heard Mayer hung at Montauk go-to The Surf Lodge before checking out a nightlife newcomer, Ruschmeyer's. He also took a Flywheel spin class during the day. We're sure the female population is glad to hear he's staying in shape.
Gwen grows up, balances tour with kids
No Doubt released its last album nearly a decade ago, but the Gwen Stefani-led band is putting the finishing touches on its sixth studio release amid the realities of middle age. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, 41-year-old Stefani told the mag her hectic schedule and their parental duties hampered the band's creative process.
"We definitely took a snail's pace, but only because we all have so much going on." She added that it was especially hard for her because she's "the mom. [My bandmates] are just the dads."
Stefani, who has two young sons with rocker husband Gavin Rossdale, also hinted that touring is very different with kids in tow.
"Normally, I would sleep the whole tour and just wake up and do the show. But you take [the kids] places on the days off. We've seen, like, every museum in every city in the world."
Dylan Lauren: daddy's little girl
Dylan Lauren will look like fashion royalty when she weds hedge-fund hunk Paul Arrouet at her family's Bedford Estate on Saturday. The 37-year-old daughter of Ralph Lauren will wear a dress designed by her father, who consulted with Vera Wang on the design. "Vera helped Mr. Lauren with the dress," says a source close to Wang. "She got her career start at Ralph Lauren and felt very honored to help with Dylan's wedding gown."
The top-secret garment is under guard by security at the Lauren corporate office on Seventh Ave. It has a single, angular, over-the-shoulder strap. The insider says the flattering gown is "a fitted and straight" design with embroidery around the bottom and "a little fishtail hem." The heiress is planning to complement her off-white gown with a Cartier diamond tiara and earrings, and a "very long antique lace veil."
Sam Levinson plays middle man
Sam Levinson has learned that sometimes short distances can seem awfully long. Yankee slugger Jorge Posada was spotted dining at midtown restaurant Lavo while Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon held court across the street at Tao, hosting a party of 10 friends. A source tells us Levinson, a sports agent who reps both players from the two rival teams, was the man in the middle, darting back and forth between the two hot spots to spend time with each client. Later that night, a source tells us Posada's teammate Robinson Cano stopped by Lavo with two friends for dinner with Champagne and dessert.
